As you may know, Boston had an extensive streetcar system. During its hay day much of it was isolated from traffic. Doing so made it the first “Subway” in North America. As much of it was converted to busses the portions that had been isolated remained served by rail and through upgrading have become light-rail rapid transit. This program covers the portion of tunnel and viaduct not showed in the first volume and the only remaining section where traffic co-mingles with the LRV’s. Where this program and volume one overlap, this one is in the opposite direction, providing additional interest. The viaduct is the only operating streetcar viaduct in North America. A section of it has recently been removed, but as this tape was shot in 1992, we can see it as so many will remember it.
