When Philadelphia was considered a world leader in the use of trolley cars for city transportation (and indeed the cars were built in Philadelphia), interested parties in Milan imported a Peter Witt for trials. They were duly impressed and subsequently built their own fleet, of which nearly 350 remain in service. These cars have been beautifully maintained. They make all the right sounds: motors, compressors, breaks, etc. There are 18 lines here, and while two newer types of cars are in service as well, we find so many Peter Witt’s that it is not unusual to see 8 or 10 on the screen at the same time. While they once had poles, they are today equipped with pantographs. This program is largely outside views and does not include an end-to-end cab ride.
53 Minutes.
