In volume 2, we continue our look at the Lehigh & New England Railroad.
We’ll view operations in the cement belt from Bath to Martins Creek, including joint switching of the Northampton & Bath, Lackawanna and the Erie Lackawanna railroads.
Leaving the cement belt, we’ll look at mainline operations from Pen Argyl into New Jersey, with interchange operations of the New York, Susquehanna & Western at Hainesburg and Blairstown.
Approaching Goshen, we’ll see brief scenes of the Erie Lackawanna.
At Maybrook, the Lehigh & New England, as well as the Lehigh & Hudson River railway, Erie and Erie Lackawanna and O&W railroads interchanged traffic destined for the New England states with the New Haven railroad.
Filmed between 1954 and 1961, the majority of the coverage comes from the Randolph Kulp film collection of the Lehigh Valley Chapter NRHS, with additional scenes from the Arthur Angstadt collection and Charlie and Ken Bealer.
