Volume One of Vignettes of the Western Maryland follows this scenic railway from its eastern terminus in Baltimore, MD to Elkins, WV and Connellsville, PA from 1940 until the verge of the Chessie System takeover in 1975.
Locations visited include the Baltimore area, Emory Grove, Ohio Pyle, Hagerstown, Cumberland, Deal, Bowest, Dunbar, Ridgeley, Thurmont, Williamsport, Meyersdale, Parsons, and Elkins.
Locomotives featured include F-units, high-nose and low-nose Geeps, RS-3's, BL-2's, FA's, SD-40's, and various models from run-through partners P&WV, Reading, and Norfolk & Western. K-1 and K-2-4-6-2's are seen pulling classic WM passenger trains near Baltimore and Thurmont.
